There are scenes in all of our lives that have become so familiar we can't imagine any other way of seeing them. But gallery artist Susan Burnstine is a master of showing the familiar in a totally new light. She does so by using her hand-made cameras and lenses to create her ethereal images.
So we're very pleased to announce that Susan has just released three new images, which are part of her Absence of Being series, that portray our home, San Francisco, through her unique vision.
Susan Burnstine is an award-winning fine art and commercial photographer, as well as a sought-after teacher. Her fine art work is shown in galleries around the world and has been published widely. Susan's first monograph, Within Shadows, earned Gold and Bronze Awards from PX3 Prix De La Photographie Paris. Susan's work was included in Staking Claim: A California Invitational at the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego in late 2013. Her work has been featured in photography magazines in China, Thailand, Korea, the United Kingdom, Romania and the US. Susan's work is in the collections of the Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; as well as the University of Maine Museum of Art. She writes a monthly column for the UK's Black & White Photography.
We hope you'll visit the gallery soon so we can show you Susan's exquisite hand-varnished prints.
