Free bicycle parking provided by our signature Valet Bicycle Parking program. Getting Bumped Off Caltrain? Take Action Here Even as we honor the work of BIKES ONboard, led by Dr. Shirley Johnson’s fervor for bikes and transit, we continue to see bikes getting “bumped” off Caltrain every single day. What’s a “bump?” A “bump” is a term for when a passenger is denied boarding due to insufficient onboard bicycle capacity. Read about what to do if you’re bumped, get involved in our Caltrain campaign and check out the bump graph for this year. Ultimate Bike Shop Challenge All Month Long Did you know you could join or renew your membership at any time of the year at many bike shops around town? This month 10 community partners are competing in the Ultimate Bike Shop Challenge to recruit the most new and renewing SF Bicycle Coalition members.. Designers and Architects: Join us for a Bike Parking Class Last Chance to Weigh in on the Marina Path Project New Member Meet and Greet Weds., July 23 6-7:30PM SF Bicycle Coalition HQ, 833 Market Street, 10th Floor If you’ve been an SF Bicycle Coalition member for less than a year, we warmly invite you to come to our New Member Meet and Greet! Even World Champion Cyclists Need Better Bikeways Evelyn Stevens is a world champion and Olympic cyclist. Like thousands of other local road bikers, she’s also a member of the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition. We sat down with her to hear more about what she thinks about biking in San Francisco, how biking in our city compares to New York City riding and why supporting bicycle advocacy and 8 to 80 bikeways is important — even if you’re a pro rider. Here’s what she has to say. Statewide Action: Protected Bikeways Act The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition and the California Bicycle Coalition's network of affiliates are working together to make riding a bike better in California. Last month, due to some quick statewide organizing and activism, Assemblymember Phil Ting's Protected Bikeways Act (AB 1193) unanimously passed the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee. This is an important step toward to making it easier for every community in to build more bikeways that are attractive for everyone from ages 8 to 80.
