A special congratulations to our gallery director, Bryan Yedinak! He and his wife welcomed their son Andy this past Saturday! He's a great addition to the Modernbook Gallery family! Also, thank you to all who joined us at NEMA (New Market) Saturday afternoon for the ARTWAY reception! ARTWAY is an exciting place located in the NEMA residency that will have rotating exhibitions curated by Modernbook Gallery. Currently, on the walls is work by Jamie Baldridge. Jamie's exhibition will be on view through the end of July. Before we go, we want to remind you that the call for entries, Approaching the Unreal has been extended to July 2! This exhibition is in collaboration with APA San Francisco. We are asking artists to submit images that are more narrative based with a touch of whimsy or surreal situations. Great examples by Modernbook Gallery artist are Tom Chambers, Jamie Baldridge, Maia Flore and Kristina Varaksina. Please don't miss your opportunity to submit for this call for entries! This year's theme will be, Approaching the Unreal. Gallery Director, Bryan Yedinak and Gallery Manager, Danny Sanchez, will curate and then exhibit a selection of images at Modernbook Gallery. Last day to submit is July 2! We are asking artists to submit images that are more narrative based with a touch of whimsy or surreal situations. Their adventures from the real world into dreamland vary from high above the streets of Paris or just above the soothing sounds of the ocean.   (above) Brothers in Arms by Kristina Varaksina. Kristina's Mystery of the Female explores human psychology by telling stories and creating imaginary worlds. Creative lighting and play of the colors are the key elements of her work. Fan Ho SFO News and Edition Update (above) Two Flying out of SFO this summer? Be sure to see Fan Ho's photographs in Terminal 2. Images on view are from his first book, Hong Kong Yesterday. Click here for more information   Approaching the end of the edition. In summer of 2011, we hosted Fan Ho's exhibition, A Hong Kong Memoir. During the exhibition, Mr. Ho selected key images to be printed much larger than he was able to print in his darkroom. His iconic image, Approaching Shadow, was one of the images selected for this edition, and now is almost sold out!  (above) Installation from artMRKT SF, May 2014.
