The SF Bicycle Coalition is forming a new Young Leaders Group focused on connecting, engaging and developing members who are looking to be more involved. As a Young Leader, you will have the powerful opportunity to better apply your skills to improve the areas of bicycling that you care about most. Possible group projects include safety, education, social, events, and more! Climate Ride = The Perfect Bike VacationPlanning your next vacation? How about a fully-supported bike tour through Northern California’s beautiful coast and ancient redwoods while blissfully sleeping under the stars at night? Another thing that will help you sleep at night: this ride raises thousands of dollars for organizations that focus on sustainability, environmental causes and bicycle advocacy, including your San Francisco Bicycle Coalition. This year the 5-day Climate Ride from Fortuna to San Francisco comes early: May 19-23. TONIGHT: Ambassador Training for Bike to Work Day Want to volunteer at this year’s Bike to Work Day on May 9th? Curious to learn the secrets of the Bicycle Ambassador program? Wait no longer! Tonight -- Tuesday April 2nd, we’ll be hosting a Bike toWork Day Volunteer training, the first of several to get you ready for Bike to Work Day (and the oodles of other outreach events we have every month). 6pm - 8pm at the SF Bicycle Coalition HQ at 833 Market St. 10th Floor. But what about smaller cities and towns? Bicycling is booming all across the country, and it’s exciting to see so many innovative bike improvements in places like Missoula, Flagstaff, Austin and Memphis. Tuesday, April 2ndBike To Work Day Volunteer Training Volunteers are the heart and soul and muscle and sinew of Bike to Work Day, and we want YOU to come volunteer with us this year! Come to one of our Bicycle Ambassador trainings to get up to date on what’s going on with the SF Bicycle Coalition, and to learn how to sign up new members. This training will also prepare you to volunteer at races, festivals, Service Stations, and other events. Thursday, April 4thSF Bicycle Coalition Phone Bank Accept the challenge to chat up your fellow SF Bicycle Coalition members! Join the volunteers who keep the SF Bicycle Coalition membership strong. No cold-calling, just calls to friendly lapsed members offering an easy way to renew. Plan to stay for the thank-you dinner afterward and get to know your fellow volunteers. Event Details & Tickets Sunday, April 7thSFBC Rec Ride: The Re-Use Ride Take a ride and visit two of San Francisco's most inspirational and iconic non-profit institutions, SCRAP and Building Resources. SCRAP (Scroungers Center for Reusable Art Parts) is a 5,000 square foot creative reuse warehouse and workshop space, diverting materials from the landfill into the hands of artists, teachers, nonprofits and general public. At an acre and a half, Building Resources is San Francisco's best source for reusable, recycled and remanufactured building and landscaping materials.
