| Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition Newsletter September 6, 2012 | All Eyes on Long Beach in the Bike and Ped World All eyes in the bike and pedestrian advocacy and planning world will be on bike-friendly Long Beach beginning tomorrow, as several bike and ped conferences, retreats, summits, and meetings will be taking place.
The Alliance for Biking and Walking's Leadership Retreat will begin tomorrow and run through Monday at the Queen Mary, and LACBC will be sending several staffers to become better leaders and advocates, covering issues from engaging membership to running a successful campaign.
Pro Walk/ Pro Bike, the leading international conference on walking, bicycling, and creating great communities through Placemaking, takes place Monday through Thursday of next week. This conference covers over 100 workshops and panels on bike and ped issues from several angles.
In between these two major gatherings is the Safe Routes to School National Annual Meeting. Immediately following Pro Walk / Pro Bike is the National Women's Bicycling Summit, brought to you by the League of American Bicyclists.
We at LACBC would like to extend a warm welcome to all the advocates, community organizers, planners, government officials, and other folks that care about making their communities a better place to walk and ride who are visiting Long Beach! |
