This exhibit includes work from Stephen's two most recent series, Roots & Shrubs and Mosswork. Using the tradition of landscape photography as a launch pad, Stephen's large-scale photographs question reality and nature. With every bit of branch, seed, leaf and moss meticulously rendered at life size, Galloway strips nature down and reassembles the elements in relationship with human design. Stephen Galloway has exhibited regionally and nationally, including solo exhibits at the Bolinas Museum in 2011 and LIMN Gallery in 2009. His work is included in many individual, corporate and public collections. In addition, Galloway has completed a number of commissioned projects, which are photographic but fabricated with materials such as polyurethane, acrylic, enamel and glass. He is currently working on a major suite of glass works for the new San Francisco General Hospital. Stephen is an associate professor of photography at Sonoma State University. We hope you'll be able to join us for the reception on September 6 or visit the gallery soon after. Liz and Jan |
