After what we hope was a relaxing Labor Day weekend, we thought you might like a quick reminder that this week is First Thursday. These late hours will give you an opportunity to see our exhibit of Peter Steinhauer's series Asian Markets.
For the last year, Peter has been traveling to the central markets of Asia in an attempt to capture each market's continuously throbbing heartbeat and exciting atmosphere. He has accomplished this with his stunning large-format photographs, which are accompanied by sound clips recorded in the markets where he made his photos.
The sounds are available as an app that you can download to your phone and listen to while you view the exhibit.* These sounds present the cacophonous, dynamic atmosphere particular to certain markets to provide you a more complete appreciation of the true Asian market experience.
* Note: We suggest that you download the app before you visit the gallery and that you use earphones, especially on First Thursday when it's likely to be noisy.
