Help Make Your Neighborhood a Healthy, Safe, and Fun Place to Ride a Bike - Become a Neighborhood Bike Ambassador

The Neighborhood Bike Ambassador  program is reaching its 2-year anniversary! Touching all corners of LA (Valley, East/Northeast, West, Central, and South), we are likely to be active on a campaign to make your own neighborhood more bike friendly. Our Policy & Campaigns Manager Alek Bartrosouf is looking to recruit more locals in engaging with stakeholders by....
  1. Advocating for proposed bike lanes
  2. Conducting community outreach
  3. Supporting local bike rides and events
  4. Raising LACBC's profile in your neighborhood
Here are some examples of what NBA's have done...
If you would like to get more involved in your neighborhood, sign up using this form and Alek will show you the ropes. Also consider joining us for the rest of our Empower Workshop Series.
RideMarshalTraining
The next Empowering Local Advocates workshop is a Ride Marshal Training! Regional chapters and Bike Ambassadors can find the training they need at this workshop to have safe rides in their community. Our trained Ride Marshals have a reputation for keeping people safe while ensuring people still have fun.

Bring your bike and grow the confidence you need to lead your own ride or help marshal one.

Updates from Around the County: Join LACBC to Request More Bike and Ped Funding

L.A. County: Join LACBC at Metro on July 16th to ask for more funding for walking and biking. For over two years, LACBC has worked alongside the Safe Routes to School National Partnership to call attention to the critical lack of funding for walking and biking in Los Angeles County. Despite pedestrians and bicyclists making up 19% of all trips and 39% of roadway fatalities in LA County, less than 1% of transportation funding is spent on these two modes. On July 16th, Metro's Planning and Programming Committee will consider adopting a 10-year Short Range Transportation Plan that again gives short shrift to walking and biking. Please join us at 2:15 p.m. on July 16th to show your support for increasing funding for walking and biking. For more details, please see the National Partnership's blog and RSVP to eric@la-bike.org.

Valley: Bike lanes are being striped on Vineland between Ventura and the 101 freeway. Thanks to Larry Hoffman and @AnotherPerfectDay for the tip.

West L.A.: Bike lanes have been striped on San Vicente Blvd. between Federal and Bundy. San Vicente has also been resurfaced from Bundy to 26th. Thanks to Niall Huffman for the tip.

Downey: Take the survey. Do you bike Downey? Provide input on the the Bicycle Master Plan by filling out this online survey, available in both English and Spanish! bikedowney.com/survey

Las Virgines-Malibu: The goal of the Las Virgenes-Malibu Regional Bicycle Master Plan is to make region a more enjoyable and safer place to bike for recreation and/or transportation. Please fill out this survey to help create a plan that meets your needs and wishes. Take the survey
