Dear Kevin, THIS WEEK:
Great news! The long-delayed Polk Street contra-flow bikeway is underway! Thanks to our members who joined us in pushing for this necessary link! NEWS & UPDATES A New Cesar Chávez Street and a Community ReunitedLast week, after decades of tireless effort neighbors living around Cesar Chávez Street finally celebrated their successful effort to make their community safer. Cesar Chávez Street, formerly Army Street, was originally built as a high-speed traffic artery between freeways, making it one of the most dangerous and unpleasant streets for people biking and walking. We teamed up with community groups like CC Puede and members like Fran Taylor to transform Chávez into a beautiful, calmer amd safer street complete with bike lanes, bulb-outs, a planted median and a road diet that narrows from six to four lanes. Read more about this transformative project here. Come celebrate this and other recent successes with the SF Bicycle Coalition and CC Puede at El Rio's Salsa Sunday on February 23 from 3-8PM, and find out what’s next in store for safer San Francisco Streets.
