Dear Kevin, THIS WEEK:
Want to start bike commuting or just brush up on your skills? Take one of our free Urban Cycling Classes. Next one is on Thursday, January 30. NEWS & UPDATES Wiggle to Become SF’s First Neighborhood GreenwayOur members have been instrumental in pushing for a Wiggle that works. Last Wednesday, members and other community members gathered for the final community open house to unveil plans for the Wiggle Neighborhood Greenway. We were excited to see the City take a large step forward in San Francisco street design with its introduction of traffic diverters. A large bulbout on Fell Street will deter southbound traffic on Scott Street while still allowing for bicycles to safely continue onto the Wiggle. This, in conjunction with raised crosswalks and traffic-calming measures, shows that the City is serious in promoting bike routes that are welcoming and get people of all ages out on their bikes. Thanks to our members for all their efforts in getting us to this point; we now have to make sure that our support for this plan is heard. Take the online survey and give your feedback on the design, and view the full project proposal here. ♥ Love on Wheels 90s Style Will Make Ya Jump, Jump! ♥Oh yeah, next week is that 90s-themed Love on Wheels party! Do you have your tickets yet? Still need convincing? Check it out: How high? Real high! DJs shOOey, Aaron Pope and Sinned will be kicking the flavor that makes you wanna Jump!

Join or Renew your SF Bicycle Coalition membership online before February 5 for a free ticket to Love on Wheels and a chance to win a fly new Globe Daily 3 bike! Vision Zero Gains Steam: Key Decision February 4Our call for Vision Zero -- zero traffic deaths in 10 years -- is gaining momentum, with both Mayor Lee and Police Chief Suhr publicly committing over the past two weeks. Now your SF Bicycle Coalition is working hard to ensure that talk is backed up with action, specifically calling on the Mayor to prioritize street safety in the City budget with significant new funding for re-designing the most treacherous streets and mandating a robust frequent driver education training. We are also looking to the SFPD to follow through on their specific commitments. Next critical step: Ensuring strong turnout of supporters for safe streets at the critical hearing on Tuesday, February 4 of the SF Municipal Transportation Agency Board. Will they back Vision Zero? Will they fund these improvements? Will they finally move to make Market Street transit-first with a pilot for bikes/walking/and transit first? Find out more & RSVP for the hearing by emailing paolo@sfbike.org Can’t Bring Your Bike Into the Office? Use This Form! Does your office building have bike parking? If not, do they allow you to take your bike into the office? Under the new Employee Bike Access Ordinance your office building must provide on-site bike parking or allow you to bring your bike into the office (though a few exceptions apply). If you believe that your building is not in compliance with the ordinance, San Francisco Environment has launched a new anonymous tenant complaint form so you can get the bike parking you legally deserve.
