Last Three Days to See David Wolf's Nuturing Time, Life in a Backyard Garden at Corden|Potts Gallery

David Wolf Postcard

Wow! Summer is almost half over and that means our exhibit featuring David Wolf's Nurturing Time, Life in a Backyard Garden, will end this Saturday, July 20. We hope you'll get a chance to visit the gallery and see this award-winning work before the show closes.

Corden|Potts Gallery is located at 49 Geary Street, Suite 410, in San Francisco. Gallery hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays, 11 am to 5:30 pm and until 7:30 pm on the first Thursday of the month.

The series Nurturing Time, Life in a Backyard Garden inhabits the place where still life and landscape meet. "In this series I take on the dual roles of cultivator and collector, gardener and photographer to explore how we shape and control Nature even as we nurture it," David says. "The choices confronting the gardener--what to grow, what to remove, what space to devote to which plants--are mirrored by the artist's task to select, compose and transform."

As collaborator with Nature, David's working method bridges the usually disparate practices of documentary and staged photography. Working with the near daily changes offered by the garden, "I responded to what I found there at any given time by taking cuttings of selected plants and flowers that I composed into arrangements and then photographed, either in the moment or at a later date," he explains.

The resulting assemblages are a combination of happenstance and design that suggest an array of associations and contradictions in relation to our collective experience of garden life. A simple cardboard box serves as both neutral container and conceptual envelope to display the arrangements.

David has exhibited his work widely, including the San Diego Art Institute, Lishui International Photography Festival in Lishui, China, and the Griffin Museum in Winchester, MA. His work is held in private, museum and corporate collections such as The Prentice and Paul Sack Photographic Trust, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Adobe Systems Corporation, San Jose, and Wells Fargo & Company.

So please make a point of stopping by the gallery to see David's luscious award-winning chromogenic prints before the show ends on Saturday.
