Corden|Potts Gallery's Summer Portfolio Features Work By Elisabeth Sunday, Susan Friedman and Jeri Eisenberg

For our end-of-summer show, Summer Portfolio, we're excited to  present the work of three wonderful photographers: Jeri Eisenberg, Susan Friedman and Elisabeth Sunday. The show will run from tomorrow, July 25, to August 28. We'll host a reception for the artists on Thursday, August 1, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm and hope you can join us.

Corden|Potts Gallery is located at 49 Geary Street, Suite 410, in San Francisco. Gallery hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays, 11 am to 5:30 pm and until 7:30 pm on the first Thursday of the month.

This is the first time we've exhibited the work of both Susan Friedman and Elisabeth Sunday, both of whom are accomplished and experienced veterans of the fine art photography world.

Mother Love from the series Africa VIII:  Omo Valley Tribes, Ethiopia © 2011 Elisabeth Sunday

Elisabeth has, for almost three decades, worked in Africa photographing tribesmen and women in many countries around the continent including Mali, Ghana and Ethiopia. She achieves her unique style by using a flexible mirror which elongates the bodies of her subjects thus capturing an essential gesture rather than their specific characteristics.

Susan's most recent series, Equus, has to do with capturing and exploring her long-standing love of and relationship with horses. Susan uses both a 4 X 5 and a Hasselblad camera, "not the proper tools to photograph moving beings" to make her stunning large-format images, which so beautifully convey the power and the majesty of these amazing creatures.

Weeds No. 2 (Reversed-With Original Insert) from the series Traces (For Anna) ©  2012 Jeri Eisenberg

You may remember that we've had the pleasure of showing Jeri Eisenberg's work several times before. This time we'll be featuring images from Jeri's newest series Traces (After Anna). The pieces in this series, which are based on cyanotype photograms, portray traces of weeds, seeds, grasses and vines, gathered during walks--mostly, in the vicinity of her rural home in upstate New York. They are the "stuff" in the background of every day life.

All three photographers have shown their award-winning work widely. In fact, you'll find some of their work represented in important museum and private collections around the world.

We hope you'll be able to join us at our reception on August 1, but if you can't make it then please drop by the gallery before August 28.
