TAKE ACTION If the Polk Street Safety Campaign is defeated, then other projects are in jeopardy. Don't let that happen! Give Today! Dear Kevin, We’re facing opposition to bicycle safety projects like we’ve never seen before. At a neighborhood meeting on Polk Street last month, more than 300 people showed up to oppose new bike and pedestrian improvements, screaming that parking was more important than your safety. Since then, the SF Municipal Transportation staff says they’ll go back to the drawing board and that “there may be some trade-offs in terms of some of the safety.”  One person walking or biking is injured on Polk Street every month! And yet, the City thinks it’s ok to trade-off safety. We don’t. Your San Francisco Bicycle Coalition is ramping up our work on this campaign, and we need you to be right there with us. With a gift of $10, $25, $50 or $100 today, the SF Bicycle Coalition will be able to: • Deploy dozens of trained bicycle ambassadors to go door-to-door talking to merchants and neighbors, every week, to win support for these projects. • Rally unprecedented numbers of SF Bicycle Coalition members – like you—to  attend meetings and hearings to tell personal stories of why safety should be the focus. • Participate in dozens of neighborhood meetings, and sit down with even more community leaders to jointly champion bicycle safety on Polk Street. • Organize bike rides for City officials, business leaders and neighbors to show them first-hand how important these safety improvements are. In order to be able to do all this, we need to raise $25,000 this spring. Can you help us? A contribution now of $10, $25, $50, or $100 will guarantee the City doesn't sacrifice your safety. There’s never been a more urgent time to give. If Polk Street safety campaign is lost, other projects are also in jeopardy. Please don’t let that happen.
