TTFA News & Accolades - Spring 2013 We are delighted to report on our artists who are being honored in prestigious museums, galleries and publications
| | | | | | | NEW ARTISTS AT TTFA
Over the past six months, the gallery has made several exciting additions to our program of represented artists, with solo shows slated in 2013. We are happy to welcome Casper Brindle (March 19th - April 30th) and Monika Lundy (October 1st - 31st).
Casper Brindle
An established Los Angeles based artist, Brindle has re-interpreted the Light and Space movement prevalent to the area into his own amalgam of atmosphere meets car/surf culture. Brindle was mentored by, and collaborated with, internationally acclaimed artist Eric Orr in the 80's. In his exhibition Strata, opening next week, Brindle continues to create his singular take on color, light, process and highly articulated surface. | | Elijo - 2013, 38x68 in., automotive & acrylic paint, resin |
Monika Lundy Having spent her formative years between the US and the Middle East, Lundy resides and works in the Bay Area. Upon receiving her MFA from Mills College, she was awarded the Jay DeFeo Prize. Most recently, she was a 2012 Nominee for SFMOMA's SECA award. For her upcoming October exhibition, House of the Strange Women: Prostitutes of San Francisco, Lundy will continue her exploration of cultural and social perceptions of obscure California histories, particularly in regards to females. Combing through archives of historic photographs, Lundy's paintings document the faces and lives of women who were arrested for prostitution, in the early 20th century, mainly in San Francisco. Utilizing a variety of media, Lundy's work is a meditation on the dispossessed, memory and individual stories that have been erased in time. | "0-3640" - 2012, 50 x 80 inches, pulverized charcoal, mica flake, coffee, ink, gouache, acrylic and acrylic gel medium on Fabriano paper

The exhibit will focus on mixed media artwork in which the artists "excavate" new and historic images to reveal particular tensions between figuration and abstraction, thus creating new layers of visual and conceptual meanings.
The exhibition runs March 23- June 1, 2013, and includes artists Tony Berlant, Shenny Phillips Cruces and Robert Sagerman, among others.
