Dear Kevin,
Thanks to a new, buffered bike lane and smooth pavement on 17th Street, this key biking corridor is now safer and more enjoyable for you to ride on.
But these great changes didn't happen over night. Years of tireless advocacy by your San Francisco Bicycle Coalition directly resulted in bike improvements like this and others across the city. Your help is needed now to bring more smooth pavement and buffered bikeways to other streets where you bike most.
To get the 17th Street to tip-top shape, SF Bicycle Coalition staff and trained volunteers attended dozens of community, business and City meetings to voice support for this contested project. We literally went door-to-door, talking to every business on this street about why we need buffered bike lanes and smooth pavement here.
Why do we need your help now? Our bicycle advocacy work requires resources beyond your membership dues. And we need to act now to make sure the City prioritizes important bike routes with dedicated bikeways and smooth pavement.
A donation of $10, $25, $50 or $100 will ensure we have enough people power to gain smooth pavement and separation on key biking corridors across the city. Can you imagine Masonic, Polk, 2nd, and Market Streets feeling as great as the smooth buffered sections of 17th Street? We can!
We are only $5,000 short of our fundraising goal. Now is the time to ask yourself: "What is a smooth bike ride worth to me?" With a special contribution, your SF Bicycle Coalition will work hard for smooth pavement and buffered bikeways. What is that worth to you?
Thanks in advance for your support. Together we can shape the future of our streets!
Leah Shahum
P.S.—There has never been a better time to give. The City is devoting huge funds to street repair. Help us ensure the $248 million in Streets Bond funds go toward better biking, with a donation today.
