The SCANPH conference brings together the affordable housing industry for a day of exciting speakers, informative and educational workshops, and our annual awards


  • Meet Our Housers' Hero, Bill Watanabe
  • Please join us at the annual conference to honor Bill Watanabe with our Housers' Hero award, our industry's highest honor. Our Housers' Hero is awarded only to those who demonstrate the highest level of leadership and committment to the affordable housing community of Southern California. It is not awarded annually but only when an individual or organization merits recognition.

    Bill Watanabe, has been the Executive Director of the Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC) since its inception over 30 years ago. LTSC is a multipurpose social welfare agency in the Little Tokyo district in downtown Los Angeles. Starting as a one-person office, Bill, together with the Board of Directors, has developed a comprehensive program of social services, housing and community development activities, with a combined staff of over 140 employees and several volunteers.

    The Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC) provides such services as counseling, transportation, peer support groups, emergency assistance, health and consumer education, small business counseling, affordable housing, child care programs, and job training...

  • Meet Our 2012 Advocate of the Year, Ann Sewill
  • Please join us at the annual conference to honor Ann Sewill as our 2012 Advocate of the Year. Our Advocate of the Year is awarded to the person or organization who exceeds duty to advocate for the industry, in the past year or as a career.

    Ann Sewill is the president of the Community Foundation Land Trust (CFLT), a supporting organization of the California Community Foundation. CFLT obtains land and makes investments for affordable housing and neighborhood development in Los Angeles. Ms. Sewill also directs the Housing and Neighborhoods Program of the California Community Foundation, coordinating the foundation's grant-making, advocacy and public policy work with land acquisition, loans and investments to support community stabilization.

    Ms. Sewill has thirty years of experience in the area of affordable housing finance and development, serving in leadership positions in both the public and private non-profit sectors. Prior to joining CFLT she held positions as the Vice President of Enterprise Community Partners, the Assistant General Manager of the Los Angeles Housing Department, the Executive Director of the Los Angeles Community Design Center (now Abode Communities), and the Housing Director for the City of Santa Monica. She also worked with the Los Angeles offices of the California Department of Housing and Community Development and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development...
