Dear Kevin,
Happy Anniversary to all of us who bike!
Two years ago today, the first new bike lane was striped after the injunction was lifted. What a great moment that was watching the fresh paint laid down on Townsend Street, starting a massive explosion of more than 22 miles of new bike lanes added to San Francisco streets!
Yes, that's right – you have helped get more than 22 miles of new bike lanes on SF streets in just the past two years! That's three times the length (or width) of the city. Most importantly, it means your pedal around town is getting easier and safer.
I want to thank YOU — our amazing members -- for all the new bike lanes all over the city! In recognition of your commitment, on-the-ground efforts and financial support, the SF Bicycle Coalition staff want to celebrate these amazing new bike lanes with you, the force behind making them happen.
Join us for the SF Bicycle Coalition's first-ever "Love Your Lanes" parties this month, take a ride on some of the bike lanes your membership support has made possible and to raise a glass. Join us for one or all of our Love Your Lanes parties in neighborhoods throughout the city.
Southeast Love Your Lanes: Friday, August 17, 6-8 pm, Speakeasy Brewery, 1195 Evans Street. Meet in front of the SF Bicycle Coalition HQ 833 Market Street at 5:30pm for a group bike ride to Speakeasy, or meet us at the brewery after 6pm for mingling and a talk about what's next for the neighborhood.
Mission Love Your Lanes: Tuesday, August 21, 5:30-7:30pm, Mission Bowling Club, 3167 17th Street. Meet at Mission Bowl to mingle and hear about what's next for this neighborhood and then take a celebratory bike ride through the neighborhood at 7:30pm.
Panhandle Love Your Lanes: Thursday, August 23, 5:30-8pm, meet in front of the SF Bicycle Coalition HQ 833 Market Street at 5:30pm for a group bike ride to The Page Bar, 298 Divisadero St, with a celebration at The Page from 6-8 pm.
Thank you for making San Francisco a great place to bike by being members of the SF Bicycle Coalition. See you at the parties and in all the new bike lanes.
Cheers,
Leah Shahum
