Thanks to everyone who participated in CLIF Bar's 2 Mile Challenge this June! Together, we raised $8,893 for LACBC, rode 75,222 miles, took 6 cars off the road for a full year, and enjoyed 7,522 hours of sunshine.

Thanks to CLIF Bar for donating this money to LACBC and encouraging folks to ride their bikes. Also, if you want to keep logging your bike trips this July, your trips will help benefit another bicycle advocacy nonprofit, the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA)!

More LA Bike Lanes on the Way: City of LA Announces Preparation of EIR on 43.3 Miles of Bike Lane Projects

Over the last year, since the adoption of the City of Los Angeles Bicycle Plan, the City has shown a real commitment to improving conditions for bicycling. This past fiscal year has been the best yet for bicycle infrastructure implementation and planning: the city exceeded its goal of installing 40 miles of bike lanes by installing 51 miles of bike lanes and also installed 20 miles of sharrows; a bike network has been growing in Downtown LA; a record number of bike rack requests have been fulfilled; and the City's first physically separated bike lane  was announced.

Looking into what's ahead for the next year, the City has just released its prepared first-year implementation strategy Environmental Impact Review (EIR) proposal for 43 miles of bike lanes. There are several upcoming scoping meetings to provide an opportunity for you to learn more about the EIR process and give input on the included projects. Below is the meeting information as well as information for a webinar that will cover the same information.

What's Ringing Our Bike Bells: "Ma Bicyclette" Is Your New Bike Summer Anthem (Maybe)

Ma Bicyclette | Andrew Huang ft. Side Pony Nation
Ma Bicyclette | Andrew Huang ft. Side Pony Nation
It's been two summers since Mark Ronson & The Business Intl came out with "The Bike Song," a charming song about riding your bike (until you get home). We couldn't help but be reminded of "The Bike Song" when we first listened to "Ma Bicyclette" by Andrew Huang featuring Side Pony Nation this week.

"Ma Bicyclette" is perhaps a little less charming but perhaps also more amusing. Side Pony Nation really steals the spotlight singing lyrics like,"Honky honky, beep beep beepy / Get on a bike and out that Jeepy."

Is this our new bike summer anthem? It's unclear. But we do know that we cannot get the chorus of "Ma bicyclette, ma bicyclette, ma bi-cy-clette" out of our heads.

Disclaimer: Watch video at your own risk. LACBC does not assume responsibility if you cannot get "Ma Bicyclette" out of your head.
