Only Two Days Left! Phone-In 2 Protect Our RDA Housing Funds

got phoneThere are only two days left! Make some noise on redevelopment and join the statewide phone-in campaign! Sacramento budget negotiations are entering a crucial phase: by June 15, the governor and legislative leadership will decide whether to sweep the redevelopment housing funds. Although we suffered a blow when Governor Brown proposed to sweep the money in early May, we still have strong champions fighting to keep the low-mod housing funds for their intended purpose.

Those champions need our support NOW. While they and our Capitol lobbyists work to identify options, other members of the legislature MUST hear from their constituents and local advocates. Join our campaign to make some noise!

The plan is simple. Spend 5 minutes each day calling the day's targeted legislator. Use our scripts below, which include information on each day's target, phone numbers, and an easy option for find your legislators. Repeat through Thursday.

Daily Scripts for Phone-In Campaign

Wednesday, June 6. Call Your Assemblymember. Find your assemblymember and his or her Capitol office phone number here, based on your home address:

"Hi, my name is __________ and I live in Assemblymember _______'s district. I'm calling to urge him/her to fight to protect redevelopment housing balances in the budget. Locally, we need the jobs and homes that can be built with this money. Stable, affordable places to live are also important to kids in our community, who need a quiet place to study and sleep. Please tell Assemblymember _______ how important the local redevelopment housing balances are to the people here and to our local economy. Thank you."

Thursday, June 7. Call Your Senator. Find your senator and his or her Capitol office phone number here, based on your home address: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/yourleg.html.
